1. Previously Middleware was associated with Queing, Brokers, Transaction monitor and Distributed processing.  
2. The essence of Middleware is a. Connecting software components and applications. b. Enabling interoperability between various platforms and different systems. c. Supporting automated and structured exchange of data across IT landscape.
3. Currently Middleware has become the platform EAI(Enterprise application Integration).
